The APM 115 course is geared as a pre-thesis class for Applied Math majors and I took it to practice the math that Iād forgotten from my undergraduate chemical engineering degree. It was one of my favorite classes in the program and reminded me of why I had liked math enough to pursue a degree in chemical engineering š
This project explores the use of diffusion models in chemcial equations. The Gray-Scott version of a Turing reaction/diffusion model was used as an illustrative basic self-catalyzing reaction. A discrete convolutional method is used to model and track the partial differential equations associated with the diffusion component of the model. Several simulations are examined to understand different initiation conditions and model parameters.
