“Modernization with Matillion and Snowflake: Improving Data Delivery and Access”,

Below is a presentation given by my team at the Snowflake Summit 2023. This cloud data warehouse transformation project replatformed an 80-silo, 360+ TB Oracle data warehouse to Snowflake. Initial change data capture was implemented using Qlik’s Attunity product, and the team re-architected more than 1,100 queries and procedures in Matillion. Ongoing CI/CD was supported by DevOps through Jenkins.

The business outcomes included more timely and broader data availability for pharmacy customers, improved performance of visualization tools, and a significant reduction in ongoing costs related to licenses and hardware infrastructure. To sustain these savings, we prioritized cost monitoring and invested significant effort in query optimization to ensure efficient, cost-effective cloud processing.
